		<description>The elevator speech should only be used in uncontrolled situation, such as, as the name indicates an elevator, where you have little time to introduce yourself.  Since there is little time to find out detail about the other party, it is quite generic and only designed to open the door to setting up a more personal meeting.  

As you mention, the elevator speech should not be used in its generic form in an interview situation or in a one on one networking situation.  

Those are cases where you have at least a a little time to do some research on the other party and prepared a version of the presentation tailored to identifying issues the other party has and then positioning yourself as the solution.</description>
